Yosemite National Park
Yosemite National Park is a amazing experience for all.Its got some beautiful waterfalls with a spray, that splatters in your face! Its got some lovely scenery with rushing rivers, wet waterfalls and terrific trees! We went to Mirror Lake,it really looked like everything was in a mirror!
Sequoia And Kings Canyon National Parks
Sequoia And Kings Canyon National Park is fantastic! Its got the worlds largest, widest and oldest living thing on the planet:The General Sherman tree! When ever you look up from the bottom of a Sequoia tree, its probally the tallest thing you've ever seen!
Tecopa Hot Springs,Campground & Pools
Tecopa Hot Springs is a lovely campsite! It has spa pools which are very relaxing! Also they are very warm bacause its natural mineral water, with 14 different minerals! The water is naturally heated from the ground.
Death Valley National Park
This day was extreme weather! Is was serously hot!Phew! It also had creepy, dangerous animals like: Rattlesnakes,Scorpions andBlack-Widow Spiders! The signs said that you should never place your hands or feet where you can't see them because one one of them animals might be resting there!!!
Mono Lake
Mono Lake surounds you with its gleaming wonders. If you dip your hands in the water then rub them together it feels like your washing your hands with soap, although there isn't any soap and your not.It feels this way because its full of salt.
Walnuts in Northern California
Walnuts grow on trees in a shell to protect it.They get a hole and the outer shell breaks. Then the farmer uses a mechanical shaker, which shakes the tree once. After, the walnuts fall to the ground. Now the farmer gets a mechanical sweeper. It cleans them with a blast of air, then picks them up and the walnuts are ready to eat. They are also harvested at the end of September. On this ranch, they have over 5000 acres of walnut trees!!!It was a local ranch owner that invited us to look at his ranch.
Space Needle
The Space Needle is 605ft tall.We went up to the observation deck, which is 520ft high. The lift goes up on the outside and its kind of scary at first, but it is only takes 41 seconds to get up there. So thats a little bit better!
Ride the ducks
We went on a tour around Seattle called "Ride the ducks".It was amazing and very interesting! The driver was extremely funny and kept on putting on different hats. He played different sorts of music to go with his hats, and he got everyone to join in singing and dancing to the music, and when we stopped and people where looking at us he said don't worry you will never see them again. I really enjoyed this trip!!!
Alaska
Alaska is amazing! The bears and whales that we have seen were spectacular! The killer whales, just glided through the water and the humpback whales, flipped there tails. Yogi (check photos for both), didn't bother about anything but food and so did BB, they were just so close to us. Alaska itself was just beautiful, its so pretty and hot!
Athabasca Glacier
We all walked on this glacier in Banff National Park, Canada. Me and Dad walked right up it, but my mum didn't like the feel of it under her feet, so she took about 5 steps and got back off again. In the middle of the glacier there was a HUGE crack!
The Rodeo
The rodeo in Montana was so cool, as my mum wrote, i'm really into the wild west, It was fantastic the way the cowboys rode the bulls, they were bucking so high! It was good fun when they did wild cow milking, (with REAL wild cows) one of them started charging at a cowboy, but the cowboy was to quick for her and grabbed her horns and pulled her down. ( It dosen't hurt the steer because there horns are so strong and powerful!
Yellowstone National Park
On the way there, we visited Buffalo Bill dam, it was huge! At Yellowstone we visited old faithful, it was awesome, it spurted up really high and that water would have been scorching hot!! Yellowstone itself has a huge population of grizzy bears. Yellowstone also was the first national park.
Marie in Oregon ( My Auntie's penpal )
Marie is really nice and let us stay with her for 3 nights to explore a bit of Oregon, while we was there, we saw: Columbia river gorge, bonneville lock and dam, and Portland. Bonneville dam was really fun because they had fish ladders, the fish and eels have to swim the opposite way to the current. Bonneville also had big Sturgeon fish, they were absolutely HUGE!!!! They were the biggest fish i've ever seen!
Crater Lake
Crater Lake is a 5 mile long, round volcano. It dosen't erupt anymore and you can drive around the rim, Wizard island was full of trees and in the middle of Crater lake. There was still snow in different places. We tried to come in June, but there was a blizard and the roads where blocked because of the snow and ice.
The Grand Canyon and my birthday
The Grand Canyon is amazing, the red rock goes in different directions and shapes. Its spectacular to see, especially in a helicopter. My birthday was awesome! I spent it in Williams, Arizona (Route 66). The place where we went out for a meal at night, sang happy birthday to me, but it wasn't the normal version, they had there own version, i was so embarrased!
Palm Springs
It got up to 100 degrees most days! We stayed at the lovely Chase hotel there. It had a beautiful warm pool and was very relaxing. We went to a motorbike show here and they did stunts. I got on well with the hotel owner, Craig and got offered a job, doing the pool towels. Rick ( he works here aswell ) is really nice, we e-mail each other and he liked Carl.
The polar bear trip
The polar bears were fantastic! They were all so huge! We saw giant males and mothers with there cute cubs. There paws and claws were so big! The tundra buggys we rode in were massive! In Churchill (where we saw them), you couldn't see a bit of land with no snow on it. It was covered! We also did dog sledding here, it was so fun! I got to stand on the back, which was awesome! We met the dogs, they were so cute.
The Cook Islands
We stayed on the big island, Rarotonga, for a week. It was so relaxing! The beachs had pure white sand and pure light blue sea. It was like Paradise! Ahh, this is the life!
Lake Taupo, New Zealand
We've got a hotel opposite the lake, its beautiful scenery, the sunset here is lovely over the mountain, reflecting on the lake. Today we went for a walk called: Craters of the moon, it was through a load of geysers and they had one called: Mud Geyser, it was bubbling all the time.
Moeraki Boulders, NZ
Moeraki boulders are all huge, some had patterns on them. They looked really weird when they had been broke in half (naturally).
The Worlds fastest indian motorbike
This motorbike was amazing! Burt Munro rode this motorbike on the beautiful Bonneville Saltflats and broke the land speed world record. He kept going to Bonneville Saltflats each year for 5 years. The first time he went his speed got up to 179 mph and he broke the world record, then each year after that he tried to beat his other years. On his last year he got up to 190.07 mph. Burt was from Invercargill, New Zealand and thats where his motorbike stands today. I find this interesting because we have been on Bonneville Saltflats and seen Burt's motorbike in New Zealand.
Tasmania
Tasmania was beautiful! Its so pretty with its greenery. We went on a beach with Turquoise water and pure white sand. We saw some different wildlife here. We also some Gum trees, which were a sort of creamy colour. One of the different birds we saw was a Laughing Kookaburra. It has a laugh uttered at dawn and dusk and also says kook-kook-kook. It lays 2-4 eggs and nests in a tree hollow. It lives in Mainland Australia and Tasmania, its habitat is in forests and woodland.
